My first blog entry was on the semi-recent release of DC comics movie Watchmen. However the movie was based on the DC's original graphic novel which was way, way ahead of its time. Realeased in September 1986- October 1987 it was a twelve part comic book series and is now relevant in the Twenty first century more than ever.
I finally read it, kind souled Drew Reagle allowed me to borrow it, I had to let him borrow Batman RIP as a trade. It was a good trade two had to read novels. The watchmen book is far more intense than the movie. With the intense story line (Read first blog to get the story) it has rugged characters. The theme of the story simply is, the worlds full of wrong doing and people turned away from heroes when they needed them the most. It shows the rough side of heroes and it is awsome. The whole story was to show the wrong side of society. To unvail the sacrifice of heroes in a real world. The world falling apart and not even heroes will save it because they were outcasted. "Is this what happens to us? No time for friends, only our enemies leave roses? Violent lives ending violently." as Rorshack put it so cleverly. This revolutionized graphic novels, it was a way of stepping out and changing the way heroes are seen. The entire book is forshadowing the way the world has become in the past 20 years since it was written. Watchmen is a realy thought prevoking book it puts you in deep though. 5out of 5 stars.
